Our Client

Our client is a long established, family-run dairy business with an impressive set up and plans for considerable growth in the coming years. They are looking to develop their existing functionality with use of new technologies and need robust financial reporting and management to support this.

They are looking to recruit a competent and empathetic Head of Finance to provide excellent reporting and detailed management accounts.

Head of Finance- The Role

As Head of Finance, you will work alongside the Managing Director to ensure that figures and forecasts are accurate and timely and enable key financial decisions to be made.

Specifically, you will:

  • Produce accurate and timely management accounts and financial reports;
  • Develop financial models to support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow;
  • Ensure compliance with accounting, regulatory and industry standards;
  • Identify risks and implement strategies to mitigate them;
  • Perform variance analysis to enable strategic decision-making;
  • Monitor cash and prepare cash flow forecasts;
  • Work empathetically alongside existing team and family members;
  • Provide strong administrative support & manage output of a small team;
  • Clearly communicate detailed financial information;
  • Assist with ad hoc finance projects.

The Successful Applicant

You will ideally be a qualified accountant who has worked in a similar role in an SME or someone looking to move from practice with existing farming experience, who can bring ambition and enthusiasm to this exciting role. Please note, if you fall into the latter category then you would get support from a Fractional Finance Director with elements of the role that are new to you.

Requirements include:

  • ACCA/CIMA/ACA (QBE and AAT also considered);
  • Experience of preparing management accounts and budgets;
  • A good understanding of accounting concepts (double entry/accruals/ prepayments etc);
  • Farming / Agricultural experience a distinct advantage;
  • Strong Excel skills;
  • A detailed and analytical mind with excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent communicator and a strong team player;
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills;
  • Knowledge of Farmplan is desirable;
  • Ability to multitask and manage deadlines.
