We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Play-Based Tutor to join our team and provide essential assistance to a student who presents with difficulties in speech and language.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage the student in play-based tuition activities tailored to their interests and preferences.
- Utilise gesture and objects of reference to facilitate communication and expression of needs.
- Implement PECS or Makaton to support the student's speech and language development.
- Create a visualised timetable incorporating the student's likes and interests to promote understanding and routine.
- Assist the student in following contextualised instructions at home and in educational settings, providing visual prompts and support as needed.
- Support the student's receptive language skills by providing clear and consistent communication strategies.
- Foster the student's expressive language skills by encouraging vocalisation and repetition of words.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with individuals with speech and language difficulties.
- Familiarity with PECS or Makaton is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively engage with the student using play-based approaches.
- Patience, empathy, and understanding of the student's unique needs and challenges.

- Hours: Monday to Friday
- Location: CT3
- Hourly Rate: 35
