Our client has a great reputation in the industry and is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and flexible all-rounder to work as part of a busy hire desk team within a supportive company. The Senior Hire Controller is a crucial role within the depot management structure as you will support the Depot Manager in leading and motivating an operational team to deliver on customer expectations in line with company goals, values, SHEQ, and quality guidelines. The main parts of the role include: Role

  • Support the Depot Manager in maintaining current business processes and systems and continually improve procedures to maximise operating efficiency.
  • Ensuring high service standards by managing daily hire desk operations
  • Review and share depot performance data with the depot manager to ensure operational productivity and depot performance.
  • Supporting the depot manager in the achievement of operational productivity, quality and SHEQ targets.
  • Deputise for the Depot Manager in their absence.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Monitor staff performance through appraisals, performance reviews, and setting personal development plans to develop staff and maximise talent potential.
  • Attend regular meetings with the depot manager and Regional Operations Manager.
  • Produce accurate weekly reports.
  • Regularly meet with the Depot Foreman to review operational and engineering work, identify issues, and formulate plans to resolve them.
  • Ensure that all major event customer enquiries are quoted and planned and that resources are allocated.
  • Support the Compliance Manager and Depot Manager with evidence gathering to assist with NQA and all other audits for accreditations.
  • Ensure all legal requirements for Road Haulage are met.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in building and leading a team.
  • Experience in managing Health and Safety.
  • Experience in delivering results against operational, safety and cost targets.
  • Ability to set standards for quality and ensure it is adhered to.
  • Experience in managing assets with capacity and demand experience.
  • Clear and effective communicator.
  • Demonstrable skills in leading and motivating others.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple, changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Excellent oral and written business communication skills.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft packages (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook)
  • Good business awareness.
