The role & what you take care of: 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Income Officer to join Magna’s Income Team. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual, eager to learn new skills and expand their knowledge in housing and benefits. As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in collecting rent and other outstanding debts owed to Magna. Comprehensive training and support will be provided to ensure your success in this role.

In this role you will:

  • Be tasked with regularly monitoring accounts and taking appropriate action on debts in accordance with Magna's income management policies and procedures, ensuring timely interventions when necessary.
  • Work with customers concluding their tenancies to ensure they end without any outstanding debts. Work with previous customers to clear debt on former accounts. 
  • Establish, document and monitor payment arrangements with customers.
  • Ensure a payment culture is established at the onset of each new tenancy or license agreement and maintained consistently throughout, to ensure that customers are fully informed of their payment obligations and familiar with Magna's debt policy.
  • Prepare court paperwork and represent the business in court for possession and debt related issues.

What you need to be successful: 

  • Experience in social housing or a similar environment, with a basic understanding of housing law and welfare benefits such as, universal credit and housing benefit. 
  • Experience of debt recovery ideally within a social housing environment is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. 
  • Excellent Microsoft skills, including word, excel and outlook. 
  • Experience in drafting court documents and representing a business in court for housing or debt-related matters.
  • Full driving licence and ability to travel.
