ASSEMBLY & TEST TECHNICIAN
BASED CUMBERNAULD

Based in Cumbernauld, ESS Recruits client is part a multi-national group, who design, manufacture, build and test of gas analysers and gas emission monitoring systems.  Their equipment is found in a range of industrial settings and applications, including petrochem, FMCG and hazardous engineering environments.  As part of their ongoing ramp up they now need to make the key hire of an Assembly and Test Technician in their Process Gas Analysers team.  

Reporting to the Team Leader as an Assembly & Test Technician, you will be responsible for the assembly, configuration & testing of gas analysers of a wide range of gas sensor products. This role requires an individual who is diligent and has excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate results and observations to the production teams. 
  
Responsibilities:  
  • Pre-assembly of components and products according with work instructions
  • Construction of customer-specific optical benches
  • Installation of optical benches in various housings
  • Establishing gas connections (e.g. tubing, piping)
  • Manufacturing electrical connections
  • Configuration of analysers
  • Execution of long-term and temperature tests
  • Linearisation of analysers
  • Creation of appropriate documentation
  • Prepare the equipment for shipment
  • Installation of electronic components  
For this role, you will need to have some relevant assembly / manufacturing type experience.  You may have completed (electro or mechanical) technical vocational training, preferably with corresponding further qualifications in the field of electrical or mechanical engineering, e.g. as a technician with experience with mechanical and electrical assembly.  Experience in gas analysis technology sector is an advantage.  Good knowledge of using common PC software such as MS Office.  This role may also be suited to a Physics or Chemistry graduate who is keen to work in a hand on role.
