Location: Full remote working

Our client, a local authority is currently seeking two Senior SEND Caseworkers.

It is an exciting time to join their Special Educational Needs and Disabilities team, as they are increasing their service to further support children and young people with Special Educational Needs.As a Senior SEND Officer, you will be involved with working closely with children and young people with complex SEN and their families, early years providers, schools, colleges, and external agencies providing advice and guidance.You will support the overall aims of the SEND Statutory Service through efficient and effective coordination and administrative support service delivery for children and families.Your key responsibility will be to ensure that statutory processes and timescales are followed. This includes good quality considerations, assessments, and reviews of the needs of learners with SEN and Disability, following the SEN Code of Practice.They continue to invest in our Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND), with the growth of their three sub teams within the SEND Team:

  • Assessment Team
  • Review Team
  • Tribunals

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to a Team manager, you will be responsible for all aspects SEN casework, including Annual Reviews, Complex casework and Phase Transfer processes for children and young people with Education Health and Care Plans (EHC Plans)
  • This role does not have line management or budget responsibilities, yet you will need to show budget awareness so that accurate recording/projects are completed within budget and relevant procedures followed
  • You will ensure Children and Young People and their families are at the centre of everything we do
  • You will uphold the council’s customer standards through respectful, thoughtful, clear and concise communications

Requirements:

  • Confident and skilled in SEN Casework with an excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant Legislation
  • Adept in problem solving, working within statutory timeframes, dealing with complex casework and liaising with families and key agencies to ensure best provision and outcomes for our children and young people
  • Practical experience in a relevant field, experience of a customer or service-user facing environment and will have a high level of interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to work in a pressurised environment, to work on your own initiative with good time management and problem-solving skills
