School Business Manager

We are looking for a School Business Manager to oversee the business functions of three SEN schools within our trust. This role is integral to the smooth operation of our schools, encompassing health and safety, premises, human resources, finance, and support services. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with statutory regulations and school policy, and contribute to the development and delivery of business strategies.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Lead, operate, maintain, and develop financial systems and procedures in line with the Academies Financial Handbook.
  • Oversee recruitment, induction, probation, and payroll processes.
  • Ensure effective financial management and benchmarking.
  • Manage the estates function to meet operational needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the health and safety lead, ensuring a safe environment for all stakeholders.
  • Manage accounts, prepare financial returns and reports, and analyse income and expenditure.
  • Contribute to the school’s strategic development and provide support during times of change.
  • Coordinate professional development for staff in line with the school’s improvement plan.
  • Oversee the school’s administrative functions, ensuring compliance with GDPR and maintaining high-quality data.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems and procedures.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and experience in facilities management.
  • Excellent leadership and human resources management skills.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including SIMS and other relevant software.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
