Payroll Assistant

Location: East Sussex

Job Type: Temporary (3 months)

We are currently seeking a Payroll Assistant for a 3-month temporary assignment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with the processing of our company’s payroll, ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time. This role requires attention to detail, excellent numerical skills, and a good understanding of payroll procedures.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Assisting with the preparation and processing of the monthly payroll.
  • Ensuring accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and company deductions.
  • Inputting payroll data into the system and checking for accuracy.
  • Handling payroll queries from employees and resolving any issues that arise.
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records and employee files.
  • Assisting with the administration of employee benefits, such as pension contributions and health insurance.
  • Preparing payroll reports for management review.
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements relating to payroll.
  • Collaborating with HR and finance teams to ensure smooth payroll operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in payroll or a similar role.
  • Familiarity with payroll software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations and requirements.
  • A professional qualification in payroll or accounting (e.g., CIPP, AAT) is desirable but not essential.
