Join our client's team as a Commercial Manager and be at the forefront of driving excellence in commercial management for a leading principal contractor. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in overseeing pre-construction activities across a diverse range of commercial sectors including retail, education, leisure, and more. You'll manage projects from cradle to grave, ensuring seamless coordination and optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-construction Leadership: Lead the commercial strategy during the pre-construction phase, collaborating closely with stakeholders to ensure comprehensive project planning and budgeting.
  • Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, cost control, and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle. Monitor project finances rigorously to ensure alignment with company objectives and client expectations.
  • Contract Management: Negotiate contracts and agreements with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients, ensuring terms are favorable and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate commercial risks through proactive analysis and strategic planning. Implement measures to safeguard project profitability and compliance.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other key stakeholders to drive cohesive project delivery. Foster a collaborative environment that prioritizes communication and problem-solving.
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and expectations to deliver tailored solutions. Act as a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance on commercial matters.
  • Performance Analysis: Conduct regular performance reviews and analysis to evaluate project profitability, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies. Uphold the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism in all commercial activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager within the construction industry, with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • In-depth knowledge of pre-construction processes, including budgeting, estimating, and tendering.
  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen, with the ability to manage contracts and drive cost-effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for financial analysis and project management.
