We all know the right job can be life-changing, but how about a job that just might change someone else’s life as well?

East Kent Mencap is a leading organisation committed to providing support and care for individuals with learning disabilities. We believe in promoting independence and helping our Members to lead fulfilling lives. We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team and make a positive impact in the lives of those we support.

What’s in it for me?

  • £20k base salary
  • 28 days AL per annum including bank holidays
  • Company pension
  • Competitive salary and benefits package (including cycle to work, shopping and recreation discounts, length of service holidays and sickness cover, and an employee assistance programme)
  • On-going training and development opportunities including funded apprenticeships

What’s the role?

You might have just finished your Health and Social care training. You may be an experienced support worker or perhaps you are willing to learn and share your experiences. Your salary and training will be based on where you are in your career. Your salary increases with training too!
This role requires you to be working at a Level 2 in Health and Social Care. If you do not have this qualification, we can develop you through an apprenticeship. We just need your desire to sign up!

The role also requires a driver. To drive our vehicles, applicants will need to have held a full UK driving licence for at least two years and be 21 years old or over (this post is only available to drivers with the required credentials. This is a genuine occupational requirement as permitted under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010).

There’s no getting away from it, this job isn’t easy- nothing worth doing is. You’ll be providing support to vulnerable people with learning disabilities.
People who are used to working with learning disabilities are great candidates, as are those with the right attitude and aptitude.

This role will give you the chance to make a positive impact in the lives of those we support.
That said, it just might be the most rewarding job on the local market today.

You may also have experience in the following: Learning Disability Support Worker, Community Support Worker, Care Assistant, Day Services Support Worker, Social Care Assistant, Enablement Support Worker, Personal Support Assistant, Day Centre Worker, Inclusion Support Worker, etc.
