Our client is a leading independent specialist in the supply of equipment and consumables to the food and drink industries. They work with renowned manufacturers throughout Europe and America, providing robust and efficient production and processing equipment, all of which is supported by their team of in-house engineers. They are seeking a proactive and versatile Senior Engineering Manager to join their food and drink equipment division. You will be leading a team of highly skilled engineers (mechanical, fabrication, electrical, electronic, project and technical support) along with the operations and purchasing functions. You will be accountable for the on-time and on-budget delivery of all our products and services. Everything from equipment installations to the management of efficient scheduling of all engineering services.Working primarily with craft beer & cider, wine and food and drink producers your team will be delivering solutions for clients in the following areas: 
  • Food & drink processing equipment.
  • Automated packaging equipment for bottling, canning, kegging and bag in box.
  • Production equipment for fermentation (chilling & temperature control for tanks), filtration, pasteurisation, carbonation, disgorging
  • Brewing production equipment.
  • Fruit processing – including conveying and automated pressing for apples & grapes.
  • Providing technical advice, full installation, commissioning and training to our clients.
 Key Responsibilities: 
  • Leadership: Lead and support the divisional engineering team, and associated operations and purchasing team
  • Engineering services: Responsible for managing all aspects of the in-house engineering team including occasional sub-contractors.
  • Project Management: Have ownership and accountability for client project delivery: Planning, execution, delivery, resource management and responsible for projects landing on time and within budget.
  • Client engagement: Accountable for ensuring your teams contact with clients is clear, consistent, and aligned with the sales team. Work closely with the sales team during projects including joint meetings on client sites. Ensure you are regularly visiting clients alongside the engineering teams, especially pre and post project delivery.
  • Quality and Compliance: Responsible for UKCA marking relevant products including compiling necessary documentation.
  • Health & Safety: responsible for all aspects of Health & Safety within your team including the engineering department.
  • Process Optimisation: Responsible for internal divisional processes ensuring operational efficiency.
 Requirements: 
  • Relevant technical engineering qualification (ideally mechanical) and recent robust experience on engineering services delivery.
  • Senior management experience working with numerous operational teams.
  • Commercial experience specifically delivery of client projects and service
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Expert knowledge in Health & Safety regulations, procedures and quality management practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and project management tools.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Mechanical Engineering Management: 4 years (preferred)
