Seeking a number of Waking Night Workers to work 1-3 shifts a week, this Childrens home work therapeutically with children who have complex needs, have experience abusive, neglectful and /or chaotic and traumatic situations and require specialist support in learning how to cope with the pressures and demands of every day living.The role:Your role will be to remain awake throughout the night and ensure the safety and well-being of the children living in the home and the sleeping-in adult. You will be expected to undertake domestic duties including laundry and light cleaning, record information and take a lead role in managing (with support) situations and eventualities including emergencies whilst on duty. Experience /Qualifications:
- Awareness of what is involved in working in a Residential Children’s Home.
- Understanding of the tasks and duties of a waking night person in a Residential Care setting. Knowledge and a working understanding of good child care practice and healthy child development.
- Some insight into the needs of children and young people living in the care system. Awareness of the task of an SEMH school or similar learning environment.
- Appreciation of the real difficulties faced and felt every-day by the children in care
- Experience of encouraging children to develop their full potential.
- Prior experience of working within a team of professionals.
- A reasonable standard of education and general knowledge.
- Some awareness of theory and practice related to providing quality care and education for looked after children.
- Awareness of effective Time-Management strategies and practices.
- Good written and oral communication skills, and able to record accurately, objectively, and with clarity.
- I.C.T. skills including Word, Excel, Email/Internet, competency in the use of electronic digital devises and equipment for recording and processing information, and able to operate basic I.C.T. appliances including telephone system, scanners, and photocopiers
- Capacity to work unsociable hours and remain awake whilst in duty
- Ability to work under pressure
