We are working with a local authority in Huddersfield to find a Finance Manager within Children's Social Care on an interim basis. Umbrella Day Rate: Up to £500  Location: Huddersfield. Initially in office once every 1/2 weeks. Can move to remote after initial weeks depending on progression.  Job Type: Contract  Start Date: ASAP  We are seeking a Finance Manager with a strong background in children’s services finance and local authority experience. This role is crucial for providing high-quality financial management support and leading a team of 6. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the finance team, ensuring effective service delivery, and contributing to the development of financial strategies.Day to Day of the Role:- Lead and manage a finance team, providing clear direction and support.  - Provide expert financial advice and support to service managers and stakeholders.  - Oversee the preparation of budgets, financial plans, and the implementation of monitoring mechanisms.  - Contribute to the modernisation of the service, driving improvements and implementing changes.  - Support the Head of Service and be an active member of the Finance Manager Group.  Required Skills & Qualifications:- Membership of a recognised CCAB professional accountancy body.  - Experience in resource and business planning within a local authority or similarly complex organisation.  - Awareness of current issues affecting local government and the financial implications.  - Experience with complex financial systems in a large organisation.  - Proven track record of supporting the preparation of budgets, financial plans, and monitoring their activity.  - Ability to advise and motivate senior managers and finance staff, prioritising workloads effectively.
