You will be assisting through R&D, pre-commissioning of mechanical & electronic equipment and control panels, PLC coding and onsite commissioning & installation of automated machinery. The Role:New & unique role within the company: you will collaborate with Senior Engineers to take on project work and continuously improve new and existing machines. Brilliant opportunity to use your technical expertise to contribute to the development of their technology.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with projects through R&D, pre-commissioning of mechanical & electronic equipment and control panels,
  • Developing your skills in PLC coding, IO testing, onsite commissioning & installation of automated machinery
  • Checking delivered fabricated parts meet specification, fabrication of custom components
  • Hands on work with automated machinery - assembling pulleys, drives & other mechanical equipment
  • Identifying & resolving problems with the assembly process
  • Testing of control panels, quality assurance
  • General problem solving and assisting with R&D

The Person:

  • Mechanical Engineering qualification - Time-Served to Degree educated.
  • Electronics knowledge or experience an advantage
  • Mechanically capable - good hands-on skills, able user of hand and power tools
  • Basic knowledge of automated machinery and PLCs
  • Assembly, installation, maintenance and basic fault-finding experience an advantage
  • Understanding of hardware, software, sensors & controls
  • QA and/or R&D experience an advantage
  • Keen interest in design and development of complex machinery
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic approach to work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent planning, organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Availability to work away from home on future projects
  • Commutable to Kirkcaldy 2 days per week minimum
