Gifford and Partners / Executive GAP have been retained to appoint a CFO for a multi-site and fast growth SME backed and supported by PE Investment. With further ambitious growth scheduled, the CFO will not only acquire future sites but also lead the business through an anticipated transaction within the next 12 months. We are seeking to appoint an exceptional finance leader who has experience of taking a business through a raise process or previous transaction.

As Chief Financial Officer, you will ensure effective financial management and reporting, contributing to financial planning, operational performance, and strategic growth. You will be a key member of the Board Team, driving the financial strategy and supporting future expansion. Responsibilities will include and not be limited to;

Strategic Management:

  • Develop and maintain financial strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Lead annual budgeting, business planning, cash management, and financial forecasting.
  • Oversee financial, legal, and funding aspects of acquisitions whilst minimising risk.
  • Manage banking relationships and future refinancing, including covenant reporting.
  • Support the CEO in maintaining relationships with non-executive directors and PE Partners.

Financial Management:

  • Lead financial aspects of strategic projects, including due diligence and investment appraisal.
  • Oversee budgets for each site, ensuring financial control procedures are in place.
  • Manage year-end financial accounts and relationships with audit and tax advisors.
  • Oversee financial systems and ensure accurate financial records.
  • Manage payroll and all ancillary financial reporting and control.
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting to the board and PE Partners.
  • Oversee procurement contracts, ensuring financial and legal standards are met.
  • Implement internal audit processes addressing key business risks.

Staff Management:

  • Manage team performance, ensuring objectives are met.
  • Establish ongoing training programs to develop staff.
  • Ensure effective communication within the finance team and with non-financial stakeholders.

Delivery:

  • Ensure accurate preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
  • Present financial reports to the Board.
  • Stay updated on new financial legislation and advise the management team accordingly.
  • Plan and prepare financial management documents, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Develop and implement relevant accounting systems.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Handle legal matters and ensure appropriate professional advice is taken.
  • Manage company secretarial matters.

Essential Experience:

  • Ability to build strong collaborative relationships including excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in senior financial roles within fast-growth SMEs.
  • Knowledge of PE-backed businesses and customer-driven environments.
  • Proven experience managing finance teams and liaising with auditors and advisors.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified ACMA/ACA/ACCA accountant with industry experience.
  • Personal integrity and confidentiality.
