We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Finance Manager to join a local authority in Kirklees. This pivotal role involves providing a comprehensive and high-quality financial service, encompassing management, supervision, and leadership of staff. As a Finance Manager, you will play a key role in driving financial performance, managing resources effectively, and contributing to the overall success of our organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to the finance team, ensuring commitment towards team goals and service vision.
  • Performance manage the finance team to ensure delivery of high-quality services to our customers.
  • Develop positive working relationships and actively contribute to the development of the team and yourself.
  • Act as a visible leader, sharing information in a clear and concise manner to build understanding.
  • Support the Head of Service by being a member of the Finance Manager Group.
  • Deliver a comprehensive, high-quality, and timely financial management service in accordance with statutory, financial, and council procedures.

Requirements:

  • Membership of a recognised CCAB professional accountancy body is essential.
  • Experience in resource and business planning within a local authority or similarly complex organisation.
  • Awareness of current issues affecting local government and their financial implications.
  • Experience with complex financial systems in a large organisation.
  • Experience in supporting the preparation of budgets, medium-term financial and service plans, and implementing mechanisms to monitor their activity.
  • Ability to advise and motivate senior managers and finance staff, prioritising workloads effectively.
  • Experience in supporting managers in producing sound and robust business cases for resource investment.
  • Experience in identifying and managing risk within a financial context.
