An award-winning national law firm is currently seeking a passionate and motivated Clinical Negligence Solicitor (NQ to 5 years PQE) to join its highly regarded Birth Injury Unit in Leeds.
This is a rare opportunity to work with one of the largest and most respected clinical negligence teams in the UK, known for its expertise in high-value birth injury claims.
Working alongside some of the most accredited professionals in the sector—including APIL, AvMA and Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel members—you will play a vital role in supporting the team on complex birth injury matters. This includes both pre- and post-litigation work under supervision, while developing your own caseload as your skills and experience grow.
This position offers an excellent pathway for newly qualified or early-career Solicitors who want to specialise in a deeply rewarding area of clinical negligence law.
Key Responsibilities:
Accountable for:
- Running and progressing a caseload of birth injury claims with supervision
- Supporting senior lawyers in managing high-value clinical negligence cases
- Delivering high-quality client service and working to team performance targets
- Accurate and timely recording of work and outcomes
Responsible for:
- Assisting in strategic case planning and legal research
- Drafting legal documents such as letters of claim, instructions to experts and statements
- Supporting negotiation and litigation processes, including issuing and serving proceedings
- Coordinating with internal teams and external experts to ensure smooth case progression
- Providing mentoring support to junior team members where appropriate
- Advising on technical case issues with guidance from senior colleagues
Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor or equivalent (NQ – 5 years PQE) with recent clinical negligence experience
- Strong interest in or previous exposure to high-value birth injury claims
- Excellent time management, organisation and communication skills
- Solid drafting ability and attention to detail
- Confident using legal IT systems and Microsoft Office applications
- A commercial and client-focused approach to case handling
- Willingness to learn, collaborate and take on increasing responsibility
