The role has become available due to an internal promotion, which has created a great opportunity for someone to join the team as a Buyer, supporting the Procurement & Supply Chain Manager. An award winning and reputable manufacturing business in Liverpool is seeking an experienced Materials Buyer to join their Procurement function to help deliver optimal value for money and successful foster and manage key stakeholder relationships. The role has become available due to an internal promotion, which has created a great opportunity for someone to join the team as a Buyer, supporting the Procurement & Supply Chain Manager.Your new roleAs Materials Buyer, you will be responsible for the effective spend management of £12m of both material spend and indirect spend. The role entails managing key commercial relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, so you will need to be a confident communicator who can easily adapt their communication style to suit your audience. You will monitor and track market rates for materials, and you will effectively negotiate with suppliers to agree terms and prices which are commercially viable and favourable, which deliver the best value for money.The majority of the role is focused around raw materials spend, so ideally, you will have prior experience in this area of spend already.The role is office based 5 days per week and the working hours are Monday-Thursday 0800-1600, and Friday 0800-1530.What you'll need to succeed

• Previous experience as a Buyer/Procurement Officer within a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Experience of purchasing raw materials
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Confident at dealing with stakeholders of varying seniority levels
• Able to confidently and successfully negotiate and influence others

• Starting salary between £32,000 - 35,000 depending on experience
