FACILITIES RESPONSIBILITIES
- Being responsible for unlocking and locking up the school as required
- Supporting swimming pool operations
- Assisting with events and room set-ups, ensuring all events are cleared away in readiness for the following morning
- Assisting in the delivery of mail, newspapers, stationery and other materials around the school
- Adhering to all aspects of health and safety regulations (including heating, safety, fire precautions and site cleanliness) and reporting hazards
- Participating in risk assessments
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping
- Updating the deputy facilities manager on a daily basis
SECURITY AND EMERGENCY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working together with the school’s estates team to keep out any unauthorised persons
- Being prepared to call in and work with the Police in the event of the discovery of unauthorised visitors to the school
- Assisting the emergency team in emergency situations
- Ensuring the health and safety of pupils, staff and visitors wherever possible.
- Working with the estates team in performing routine and emergency locking of the school’s facilities
- Managing visitor access/control including issuing both permanent and temporary security badges
- Evicting, holding or detaining persons when directed to do so
Car park management
- Preventing unauthorised parking
- Controlling the safety of pedestrians within the area of the security cabin and entrance
- Giving directional advice to visitors for parking
- Giving advice to coach drivers to prevent obstruction to other road users when waiting to collect or drop off passengers.
- Directing taxis
Other
- Dealing with staff, pupils and visitors’ enquiries and requests
- Operating a variety of equipment including portable radios, computers etc
- Providing escorts to parents, contractors, visitors and relevant others
- Providing agreed support for events and activities
This is a 4-day, 40 hour a week contract.
Routine hours on a weekend when acting as a security guard are Saturday and Sunday 7.00am -5.30pm. Working hours as a Facilities Operative on Monday and Friday will be 6.00am – 5.45pm.
A 12-hour weekend shift may be required depending upon facilities bookings in the evening.
Working hours will be flexible outside of term time, working from Monday to Friday.
