My client are an energy company on a path to reduce the carbon footprint of large scale energy users.

ROLE

As a key member of the technical team, you will provide operational support to end users at all levels and our software development team. Your role will serve as an escalation point for all IT support and DevOps queries. You will support over 170 end users across various geographical locations. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and monitoring IT systems such as remote working solutions, cloud-based solutions, and on-premises solutions. A prompt and professional resolution of technical issues is expected.

You may also be tasked with maintaining solutions for our development team. This will require an understanding of project requirements and KPIs. You will implement various development, testing, automation tools, and IT infrastructure with a strong focus on security and best practices to future-proof the infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Uphold a security-first and security-last mindset, ensuring all actions align with ISO27001 standards and FCA regulations.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to software or hardware queries via email, phone, or face-to-face.
  • Monitor and update the ticketing system to highlight overdue or unresolved tickets.
  • Identify issues and guide first-line support or end users through the necessary steps for resolution.
  • Collaborate with the IT manager and wider technology team to address recurring issues and implement necessary training or documentation.
  • Continuously improve knowledge of technologies used across the team and suggest improvements.
  • Maintain a strong customer-focused service to uphold exceptional customer support standards.
  • Show willingness to learn new technologies and take responsibility for tasks.
  • Automate tasks where possible and implement infrastructure as code.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

This role will suit a candidate with at least 3 years of technical experience, in a Systems Engineer or similar field.

  • Proven experience in driving best practices within your local team.
  • Good understanding of application and infrastructure monitoring.
  • Good technical background with an ongoing interest in technology.
  • Security-first mindset with experience in proactive risk assessment for systems and user accounts.
  • Good understanding of technical monitoring, performance management (e.g., load balancing), capacity & availability management, and reliability engineering.
  • Good troubleshooting skills in Networking, Firewall, Server, Desktop etc.
  • Excellent documentation skills for knowledge transfer.
  • Strong communication skills at all corporate levels.

TECHNOLOGIES

  • Good Knowledge: Microsoft 365 Suite, Intune, Windows 10+
  • Some knowledge: VPN, SSO and MFA Technologies, Networking, Firewall (Palo Alto).
  • Nice to have, but not essential: Linux, Docker, Powershell and Bash Scripting.
