My client, an established housing association are seeking an Environmental Officer to lead their environmental services within a region, ensuring the effective maintenance and enhancement of green spaces and communal grounds.

The Key purpose of this role is to visits sites and audit performance of the Contractors and ensure they are meeting KPIs and SLAs.

Sites will be spread across a large geographical area, such as Derby, Stoke & Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham, Cambridge, Essex, London, Kent & South West. 

Day to Day of the role:
  • Contract monitoring role - majority of time spent on site auditing grounds maintenance service and reviewing site plans. 
  • Ad hoc inspections may also be required for maintenance and tree related enquiries.
  • Flexibility - role involves a lot of travelling which may require over-night stays which will be fully expensed.
  • Provide professional advice, expertise, and technical support for a range of environmental services.
  • Manage the Group’s green spaces and ensure consistency of service between internal and externally delivered grounds maintenance services.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of regional plans and neighbourhood plans.
  • Offer technical support and advice during the ‘Place Bids’ application process.
  • Act as a point of contact for regional environmental services, ensuring effective management of green spaces and improving biodiversity.
  • Utilise project management methodologies for planning and delivering regional priorities.
  • Prepare and monitor annual budgets for income and expenditure, ensuring service quality.
  • Collaborate with the National Environmental Services Manager.
  • Liaise with the Asset Services team to address environmental impacts in maintenance programmes.
  • Promote innovation, recycling, composting, and waste reduction with contractors.
  • Lead on Health and Safety in landscape services and promote a safety culture.
  • Respond flexibly to changes in work priorities and undertake other duties as required.
  • Ability to manage own diary and plan the visits to regional sites.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrable experience within the building/environmental industry.
  • Experience in providing an environmental services offer, within the housing sector.
  • Previous grounds maintenance/tree/horticultural contract management experience.
  • Track record of successful contract management and dealing with underperformance.
  • Understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Experience managing budgets and adhering to financial protocols.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Valid UK driving licence and Own Vehicle.
