Adecco are supporting a London Borough Council team in a service role as a Recycling Support Officer in the Estate Food Waste team

Our clients Recycling Service team has additional requirements following government funding, they are promoting the improvement of services and driving forward the provision of food waste recycling services to estate and blocks of flats.

They are seeking dynamic and collaborative individuals to join their team to provide the best possible service to support their approach to provisions to Recycling and waste in the Borough.   • Full time role - 35 hours per week
  • Temporary Role - 3 months with likely extension as well as opportunity to apply for permanent role
  • £19.05 per hour PAYE / £24.95 per hour Umbrella (Circa £45K per annum)
  • At least two days per week carrying out site surveys, monitoring, undertaking resident engagement
  • Based in Islington
  • IT equipment provided

Duties

  • Reviewing the food waste collection service for purpose built blocks of flats to identify service improvements, such as missing or relocated food waste bins, improved bin locations to improve resident convenience, missed collections or insufficient bin capacity, and engaging with the onsite staff (caretakers) and the Operations Team to implement improvements.
  • Using vehicle tracking systems, Alloy and any other relevant IT/digital systems to support with service reviews and monitoring.
  • Monitoring the food waste collection service for purpose built blocks of flats, including using weighbridge data and bin weighing systems to monitor tonnage data including as specific sites.
  • Engaging directly with residents, developing and implementing communications and behaviour change initiatives to increase participation in food waste recycling services and the proportion of food waste that is recycled, for purpose built blocks of flats.
  • Reporting on measurable outcomes to demonstrate the impact of any service related, or comms and engagement interventions.
  • Supporting with all of the above also in relation to street property food waste recycling services.
  • Periodic monitoring of the flats above shops food waste collection trial.
  • Site reviews and scoping work to prepare for expansion of the flats above shops food waste service to properties across the borough.
  • Support and oversee the delivery and installation of food waste recycling bins at agreed sites where the service needs to be reintroduced. This includes the delivery and distribution to households of kitchen caddies, compostable bags and supporting printed material.
  • You will need to have basic competent IT skills including the use of outlook, word, excel and sharepoint, as well as the ability to create and amend maps and site photographs.

An ideal candidate

  • Council environment understanding
  • Experience of working within a Social Housing or a recycling and waste management environment
  • Ability to identify practical and suitable arrangements for recycling services within housing environments
  • Social care / Recycling experience
  • Excel
  • Ability to create and amend basic maps and photographs using digital tools
