We are currently partnering with a Local Authority based in East London and are recruiting on their behalf for a Substance Misuse worker role based in their Support team.

The successful candidate will be expected to work directly with residents in their homes and community, offering a safe and welcome environment within a 'psychotically informed environment’. You will be promoting participation with daily talks, and creating opportunities to try new things; offering support to work alongside the strength of the residents to achieve set aims and goals.

Day to day duties include:

  • Work together with vulnerable residents to provide and maintain a safe, supportive environment, encouraging independence in living
  • Follow Risk Management Policy, prepared for crisis situations
  • Undertake needs assessments, identifying skills and abilities, developing regularly reviews, using the outcomes to track progress
  • Interview new referrals, booking in residents, and establishing they meet project requirements; tracking progress is essential
  • Conduct outcome reporting and reviews, supporting people awareness
  • Carry out assessments of alcohol / drug usage, delivering brief interventions when needed, and offering practical advice
  • Monitor vulnerable residents, managing medication
  • Assist residents who cannot manage their money, according to Finance policies and procedures
  • Discuss with external agencies when concerned with the welfare of service users, including: social workers / care managers, colleges, psychiatric services, GP's relatives and significant others
  • Participate in training programmes, and familiarise with policy changes
  • Ensure networks with local services and providers are maintained
  • Support the organising of regular recreation activities
