Position: Bar Manager (French Speaking) 

Reports to: Hotel Manager

What will I be doing?

As the Bar Manager, you will be instrumental in fostering team spirit, motivation, and service excellence within the bar department. Your responsibilities include overseeing the beverage menu for the restaurant, in-room dining, minibar, and reception lobby operations, ensuring seamless day-to-day management to enhance guest satisfaction. Given the guest-facing aspect of this role, impeccable presentation and proactive engagement with guests are crucial for ensuring their utmost satisfaction.

·Foster effective collaboration within the team through participation in departmental meetings and briefings, offering support, and assisting as required to collectively achieve hotel objectives.

·Be available to warmly welcome and engage with guest, accurately conveying their food and beverage preferences to the operations team, even beyond regular office hours.

·Develop beverage menus for the bar, lobby, minibar, and collaborate with the Restaurant Manager to enhance restaurant and room service offerings.

·Utilise upselling techniques to maximise revenue generation.

·Address guest complaints promptly, efficiently, and professionally, following hotel procedures on behalf of the team.

·Conduct regular staff tastings to maintain quality standards.

Hotel Operations:

·Communicate operational updates to the Hotel Manager/General Manager and relevant departments as necessary.

·Monitor social media and hotel review feedback, taking appropriate action to address concerns.

·Assist in implementing the annual special events and promotion plan.

Financial Management:

·Prepare weekly Sales and Cost of Sales Reports, adhering to budgeted guidelines.

·Utilise key performance indicators and financial targets to assess departmental performance and strategies for the future.

·Analyse financial data to support decision-making processes and forecast potential revenues and costs.

Health and Safety:

·Understand and adhere to relevant Health and Safety legislation, ensuring proper implementation within departmental operations.

·Inform and ensure compliance of team members with security, health, and safety regulations.

·Hold overall responsibility for health and safety within assigned departments.


Recruitment, Staffing, and Development:

·Develop and execute recruitment, training, and team growth strategies.

·Ensure staffing needs are met and explore growth opportunities.

·Conduct thorough formal performance appraisals.

What are we looking for?

·Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a luxury property (pre-opening experience highly desirable).

·Excellent knowledge of wines and champagne, complemented by WSET Level 2 certification.

·Must be fluent in French.

·Strong upselling skills.

·Personal license holder.

·Customer service expertise with a passion for creating unique experiences.

·Outgoing personality with a preference for interacting with staff and customers.

·Continual review of staff performance and product knowledge.

·Awareness of new trends, fashions, art, and culture.

·Strong leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate the team to deliver high-quality service.
