We are currently partnering with a Local Authority based in East London and are recruiting on their behalf for a Senior Substance Misuse worker role based in their Support team.

Our client is seeking individuals passionate about delivering quality customer-centered services, the ideal applicant will showcase strong levels of compassion and eagerness to make a positive impact. Time management, problem solving, and leadership skills will be beneficial to the role.

You'll be required to creatively engage with challenging behaviour and needs, and obtain up-to-date mental health legislation knowledge.

Day to day duties include:

  • Working together with vulnerable residents to provide and maintain a safe, supportive environment, encouraging independence in living
  • Uphold commitment to Equality of Opportunity, managing Diversity and safeguarding against abuse
  • Follow Risk Management Policy, prepared for crisis situations
  • Contribute to the recovery hub, providing expertise for drug misuse, financial regulations, and delivering training when necessary
  • Interviewing new referrals, booking in residents, and establishing they meet project requirements and tracking progress
  • Facilitate peer group activities for treatment services, and engage in supportive trusting relationships with professional integrity
  • Carrying out assessments of alcohol / drug usage, delivering brief interventions when needed, and offering practical advice
  • Monitoring vulnerable residents and managing medication
  • Discussing cases with external agencies when concerned with the welfare of service users, including: social workers / care managers, colleges, psychiatric services, GP's relatives and significant others
  • Share relevant information following data protection and confidentiality

Please note in this role you will be expected to provide cover when necessary

This role is to start ASAP and you must have previous experience within substance abuse and mental health concerns.
