Kelly Services are looking for a Technical & Service Department Manager to work for a well-established client based in Shepshed, Leicestershire.

Salary 55,000 - 60,000 per annum

Overall Responsibilities:
To provide leadership to the combined Technical and Service Department, ensuring the integrated department delivers excellent Technical and Engineering Leadership for the organisation and support for Customers.

Primary Tasks of the Role

  • Support New Product and Product Development Technical Support Manager with Technical knowledge and resource.
  • Ensure on time delivery of the Technical aspects surrounding New Product Delivery programme in line with the agreed timing plan
  • Contribute to the process of identifying, sourcing, approving New Products
  • Support the Product Development and Technical Support Manager to identify products with a higher than acceptable returns rate and finding a solution
  • Develop the skills and capability of the Technical Team
  • Lead the Technical Team to the successful achievement of Annual Objectives
  • Ensure that all Technical Team processes and procedures are captured.
  • Ensure that all Technical Testing and New Product Manuals and accreditations are in line with the applicable law at that moment in time.
  • Enforce a strong Health & Safety culture, including the reporting of near misses, throughout the activities of the Technical Team.
  • Conduct Weekly Technical Team Meetings to ensure thorough updates and planning of activity
  • Represent the Technical Team as required at cross functional company meetings.
  • Work one Saturday per year supporting Stock Take.
  • Lead the Service and Production Team
  • Implement recognisable Department Management Techniques to manage the motivation and discipline within the Service and Production Team
  • Support the development of increasing the level of repairs delivered by Third Party Repair Partners
  • Drive efficiency levels of output across the Service and Production department
  • Lead an initiative to increase the number of Bespoke products brought in as finished goods
  • Re-deploy department engineers to increase to enable speedier rectification of Warranty Based Returned Goods, Increase the number of SKU benefitting from PDI process, enable greater testing of New Products before launch.
  • Develop the skills and capability of the Service and Production Department.
  • Lead the Service and Production Department to the successful achievement of Annual Objectives.
  • Ensure that all Service and Production Department processes and procedures are captured.
  • Introduce a Customer Awareness culture within the Service and Production Department - including the use of video telephony to engage with customers to discuss machine faults and potential resolutions when required to do so by the Customer Service Team.
  • Introduce Health & Safety CCTV to capture evidence in the event of a Health and Safety incident.
  • Introduce Bench CCTV to enable customers to be sent evidence that work has been carried out when challenged by the customer.
  • Enforce a strong Health & Safety culture, including the reporting of near misses, throughout the activities of the Service and Production Department
  • Conduct Weekly Service and Production Team Meetings to ensure thorough updates and planning of activity
  • Represent the Technical Team as required at cross functional company meetings.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as may be required by the Company.



If you are skilled in both Electrical as well as Mechanical practices, have a good understanding of procurement and development of mechanical equipment then please allow for this role.
