We're on the hunt for a diligent Data Protection Officer (DPO) on a 3-month fixed-term contract (potential for this to be longer) to establish and implement vital processes and mitigate risks related to data handling. This role offers the opportunity to shape our data protection framework from the ground up, this could be a great opportunity to add this to your portfolio for a rapidly growing PE backed business.

You'll be reporting directly to the Group HR Director, granting you the freedom to take charge and execute tasks according to your own methods. While geographical location won't hinder the right candidate, occasional visits to our head office in Milton Keynes and other sites nationwide may be required, driven by the nature of your work. As the expert, you'll determine the necessity of these visits.

What we offer:

We offer a salary of £40,000 - £50,000 (pro rata). Furthermore, our benefits package includes 25 days of annual leave (pro rata), plus bank holidays with an additional day off for your birthday. This day can be taken on the preceding or following Friday or Monday if your birthday falls on a weekend.

Key responsibilities:

• You'll lead the establishment of robust data protection processes, including Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Data Processing Agreements (DPA), and a comprehensive risk register

• Conducting a thorough audit of our current data handling practices, you'll identify areas for improvement and develop benchmarks to ensure compliance with data protection regulations

• Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll create essential documentation, policies, and procedures to guide data protection practices across the organisation

• As a subject matter expert, you'll provide guidance and training to employees on data protection best practices and ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements

Experience required:

• Prior experience in data protection, privacy law, or information security is essential for this role

• Demonstrated expertise in conducting DPIAs, developing DPAs, and maintaining a risk register is highly desirable

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are crucial for conducting comprehensive audits and assessments

• Excellent communication skills are essential for effectively collaborating with stakeholders and educating employees on data protection protocols
