This is a great job opportunity for a Housing Manager to join Home Group’s awesome team in Newcastle. As our Housing Manager, you’ll be the face-to-face customer support to our communities. This is the perfect job for you if you like variety and delivering excellent services to our customers and communities, whilst displaying our commercially-caring behaviours.

Typical day as a Housing Manager

  • You’ll be supporting customers with complex needs in our wellbeing and recovery service and Newcastle’s outreach service.
  • You will be an advocate for customers and also need to manage difficult and challenging conversations when it comes to all things tenancy related (including arrears.)
  • Through visibility and engagement with customers, you’ll really get to know our communities and customers. This will help us to improve our local neighbourhood. 
  • Proactively managing anti-social behaviours in our homes, responding to customer queries and complaints.
  • Managing our voids process including liaising with local authorities.
  • Carry out estate inspections, engaging and meeting with contractors on site, as well as carrying out and recording the routine safety and compliance checks in our buildings and communities.

About You 

  • Have worked in housing before and understand housing management, housing law and in an ideal world, universal credit too! 
  • Have the experience to work with customers with complex needs (including mental health.)
  • Super organised and methodical in your approach, you’re also a proactive self-starter with a “can do” positive attitude.
  • Passionate about delivering excellent customer service and have a genuine desire to help your customers as well as reaching business goals and objectives.
  • This job can challenge, especially when we’re dealing with complaints, your resilience will help you through.
  • Confident working with external partners and stakeholders such as local authorities and MP’s. Amazing if you have worked with multidisciplinary teams too!
  • Like being part of a team but appreciate that this is a role where you’ll spend most of your time working in our local estates.

Job details

  • This is a hybrid role and in an average week, you’ll spend days working from our local offices, communities and home.
  • There may be some flexibility to adapt your working hours, do let us know about this when you meet us at the interview.
  • We mainly work Monday to Friday, but we do adapt to our customers’ needs.
  • To get from A to B, you’ll need a vehicle insured for business purposes. The great news is that we’ll pay your mileage! 
  • You’ll need an enhanced DBS check done, we will pay for that.
