SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: North Shields, Tyne and Wear
Salary: £80 to £100 per day

GSL Education are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team within a primary setting in North Shields, Tyne and Wear. This role is designed for a professional who is committed to supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, facilitating their access to education and promoting their well-being.

About the Role:

  • Providing tailored support to students with SEMH needs, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Working closely with teachers to implement strategies that promote students' engagement and participation in learning.
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of individual education and behaviour plans.
  • Facilitating small group activities and one-to-one sessions to support emotional and academic growth.
  • Encouraging students' confidence, self-esteem, and independence.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH needs.
  • Strong understanding of the strategies needed to manage challenging behaviour positively and effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies.
  • Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach to supporting students' learning and well-being.
  • Relevant educational qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent) are desirable.
