Revenues Recovery Officer / Credit Controller

Your new companyHays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a Local Government Authority who are looking for an experienced Revenue & Benefits Recovery Officer to join the team in an interim role in the collection of outstanding Council tax and business rates. This will be at least a 3-month interim role.Your new roleIn this temporary Revenues Recovery Officer / Credit Control role, you will be working in a team and take responsibility for investigating outstanding Council Tax arrears, which will involve checking that correct billings have been raised, reminders have been sent and that correct internal procedures have been followed to ensure payment is justified. You will follow up by collecting the outstanding debt and, if required, a liability order summons will be made to pursue the debt, which will involve attachment of earnings etc.Ideally, you will have proven experience of revenue and benefits processing with a focus on collection of outstanding Council Tax along with working knowledge of Northgate.What you'll need to succeedYou will be immediately available or available at short-notice and have experience of Local Government processes regarding the collection of Council Tax & Business rates.What you'll get in returnAs explained, this will be a 3-month temporary job based in Norwich but also offering hybrid work and may be extended. You will be an agency worker via Hays Accountancy & Finance, paid an hourly rate to include holiday pay.
