This is a key role within an exciting transition period at our Nuneaton site – our packaging center of excellence, supporting the relocation and commissioning of additional packaging lines and ongoing development of established lines in this automated-heavy environment.


A key role of the site senior leadership team (SLT), you’ll utilise a “boots-on-the-ground” approach to work within a collaborative environment which has been fostered to ensure successful integrations and cohesive relationships between key stakeholders, including operations and technical teams. This is also a role where you will be actively contributing to the communication of performance figures and working with stakeholders to drive for improvements.


You will have a people-focused approach to inspire, motivate, and lead an engaged team of engineers and spearhead the formal implementation of LEAN manufacturing frameworks, and upskilling the team to ensure effective rolling out of autonomous care and future proofing.


We are looking for you to bring your project management to the table in a structured approach to deliver the final stages of the equipment being delivered to the site and commissioning of these lines, with a drive for continuous improvement.


The site has a range of equipment, including robotic arms, conveyors, packaging, refrigeration, slicing, grating, and utilities & facilities.


SDUK's brands include the Nation’s favourite cheese brand Cathedral City plus other well-known butter & spreads (Clover, Country Life, Vitalite, Utterly Butterly), functional ingredients and dairy free products.


YOU’LL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER BY…

  • Developing, mentoring, and leading a high-performing engineering team consisting of reliability, process improvement, asset care, and controls & automation engineers.
  • Being a visible, hands-on leader to support the continued development of collaboration between departments up- and down-stream.
  • Bringing a project management approach to the imbedding, implementation and commissioning of site equipment, with a focus on increased production levels.
  • Delivering continued development of PPMs to improve the site OEE.
  • Deliver value stream mapping for the site.

  • An experience site engineering leader with a hands-on approach to drive credibility.
  • A strong communicator at all levels, with the ability to influence and collaborate, and be a contributor during SLT conversations.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to outline the development of implementation of long-term plans, with experience working in environments which have received recent investment and showing adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Able to demonstrate a track record of developing and upskilling engineering teams, with the implementation of LEAN manufacturing.
  • An accomplished problem solver and decision maker, with a structured approach to challenges.
