Special NeedsTeaching Assistant
Location: Primary Schools within Rhondda Cynon Taff CF37 - CF45
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the learning and development of pupils with special educational needs (SEN).
- Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
- Develop and implement tailored learning activities and interventions.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
- Foster a positive, encouraging, and safe learning atmosphere.
- Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
- Support pupils with personal care needs if required.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 1 years experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a UK primary school, specifically supporting children with special needs.
- A relevant qualification in education or childcare (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of the primary school curriculum and strategies for supporting SEN pupils.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable:
- Experience with specific educational needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or Speech and Language Difficulties.
- Training in specific SEN support strategies or interventions (e.g., Makaton, PECS, TEACCH).
