A well established local authority is recruiting for a 1 year fixed-term contract Accounting Technician role. This is a great opportunity for the ideal candidate to join a professional finance team. Work in a hybrid role with excellent transport links. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you'll be a crucial part of the finance team. Your new role
Your new role will involve assisting in the preparation of monthly budget monitoring reports, preparation of final accounts and statutory financial statements plus other financial analysis as required. Responsibilities will also include providing analysis and support for a wide range of tasks, including a range of financial and contractual issues, interpreting legislation, supporting grant monitoring and return to regulatory bodies and applying financial regulations and codes of practice.You will business partner with senior stakeholders and the wider business to support commercial business and strategic decisions. Further duties will involve investigating and reporting on variances against budgets and forecasts, balance sheet reconciliations and identification of P&L risks/opportunities. This is a fast-paced team, working in a large finance department.What you'll need to succeed
You will be either part qualified (AAT, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA) or qualified by experience. You will demonstrate broad financial skills but with an obvious commercial flair and track record of developing financial control processes. You will have strong communication skills and business partnering experience to build and manage relationships.What you'll get in return
