Insight Executive are pleased to be partnering with a specialist Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contractor who provide Commercial Heating solutions to recruit an for Operations Manager. The role of Operations Manager is to oversee the delivery of reactive maintenance and PPM services of the mobile engineering division, and to work alongside the project installation team to ensure quality and compliance as well as high standards.

The client is a family-run SME, with an excellent reputation and a long-standing and loyal client base. They deliver a range of mechanical services including projects/installs; service & maintenance, repairs, emergency callouts; temporary boilers; and temporary plant room hire. Their client span sectors including hospitals, care homes, hotel groups, schools, universities and general commercial/industrial.

The company’s owners have ambitious growth plans and are looking for someone to join the leadership team to assist with the scaling up of the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Liaison with clients nationwide
  • Assisting Directors with business growth and profitability
  • Overseeing preparation of quotations & pricing of jobs
  • Overseeing Management of engineers and office workforce
  • Management of day to day running of business
  • Supplier management
  • Health & Safety management

Key skills

  • Good knowledge of implementation of job flow systems/procedures
  • Excellent communicator - verbally, in writing, in meetings etc
  • Experienced in dealing with clients and developing and maintaining long standing business relationships
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experienced in managing and delegating
  • Experienced in managing an office team and overseeing day-to-day operational needs of the business.
  • Team player
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to problem-solve & trouble-shoot
  • Good at multi-tasking, able to prioritise.
  • Strong IT skills - excel, word, project management, Outlook

Background/experience/qualifications

  • Service sector background, managing remote engineers nationwide
  • Building Services / Mech Eng - degree qualified or similar
  • Senior management experience within a growing business.
  • Experienced in developing and implementation of business processes
  • Commercial heating knowledge is an advantage but not essential
