Are you looking for a career where you can work with students who have significant learning difficulties? If so, GSL Education can help. GSL Education is actively recruiting a Autism (ASD) Teaching Assistant to work at a client schools located in Sheffield starting immediately.

Autism Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • The ability to identify students going into crisis mode and follow/be familiar with their special needs.
  • Provide 1:1 support for a young student with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Support the delivery of in-class activities, promoting independent learning where possible, and encouraging appropriate social skills.
  • Follow Education Health Care Plans to ensure outcomes are met. 
  • Previous involvement with SEN Children specifically Autism is an added advantage.
  • Previous working experience with Autistic children
  • An Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a new one with GSL Education.

Autism Teaching Assistant Responsibilities: 

  • Support on a one to one and small group basis.
  • Follow Education Health Care Plans to ensure outcomes are met. 
  • Assist in engaging lessons including outdoor education and creative learning. 
  • Support young people social interaction.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with staff members and outside agencies, such as counsellors and mental health professionals
  • Develop self-esteem, confidence, and emotional wellbeing resilience in students to ensure regular attendance in school and active participation in learning and social opportunities.
