Location: Stockport

Salary: up to £35,000 DOE

HYBRID WORKING: 2 days from home

Reed are delighted to be working in partnership with a growing organisation with a global coverage & part of a larger group function who are now looking to recruit a Shipping Controller to join their small team.

Role Overview:

As a Logistics Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in managing our international shipping operations. Your responsibilities will include overseeing both import and export processes, coordinating multi-modal transport, handling customs clearances, and maintaining accurate stock records. Key Responsibilities:
  • International Shipping Management:

    • Collaborate with carriers, shipping agents, and freight forwarders to ensure smooth transportation of goods worldwide
    • Review carrier performance and negotiate rates to optimise shipping efficiency
    • Handle all aspects of import and export procedures, including customs documentation and compliance
    • Stay up-to-date with international shipping regulations and industry trends
  • Customs Clearances:

    • Liaise with customs authorities to facilitate timely and accurate clearance of shipments
    • Prepare and submit customs declarations, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations
    • Resolve any customs-related issues or discrepancies
  • Multi-Modal Transport:

    • Determine the most efficient shipping methods and routes for various products
    • Coordinate land-based, sea, and air transport to meet delivery deadlines
    • Supervise loading and unloading activities for shipping vessels
  • Stock Control and Audits:

    • Monitor inventory levels and track stock movements
    • Conduct regular stock audits to verify accuracy and identify discrepancies
    • Collaborate with warehouse staff to optimise stock management processes
Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience dealing with multi-modal international transport
  • Familiarity with import and export customs procedures and UK VAT rules related to international shipping
Skills and Attributes:
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Proficiency in using shipping software and tools
  • Problem-solving mindset and adaptability
