Our client, a forward thinking, leading independent firm of Chartered Accountants are seeking an experienced Payroll Assistant to join their growing team in Uckfield.

You will be working within a small, friendly department, operating the weekly, fortnightly and monthly payroll for a diverse portfolio of clients.

Duties Include:-

  • Liaising with clients and entering payroll data from start to finish accurately
  • Reconciling payroll to client data, getting client approval as appropriate and issuing payroll reports & payslips
  • Preparing payroll journals
  • Reconciling weekly and monthly PAYE figures
  • Preparing BACS files
  • Administering Pension Auto-enrolment including making appropriate declarations to The Pensions Regulator.
  • Producing and distributing pension scheme returns, including notification of changes in members’ status and uploading to pension provider
  • Dealing effectively with queries from clients and HMRC

This practice has its own bespoke software which you will be trained on, although experience of computerised payroll software would be an advantage.

You will ideally have a payroll qualification such as CIPP or working towards this and have a good working knowledge of payroll processes, including PAYE, NI, family leave and Pensions, preferably with experience of working for another firm of chartered accountants or within a payroll bureau.
