About the job

Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator to join their team. The role is suited to someone with previous experience and skills of working in a CNC Operator role, Knowledge of CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools and with the ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings. 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to manufacture precision components. Loading parts in the machine, cycles machine and detects malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools and ensuring that all tasks are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations to meet our customers and regulatory requirements.

Our client Carr’s Engineering designs, manufactures, and services bespoke equipment, vessels, precision components and remote handling systems alongside providing specialist engineering services in the Nuclear, Defence, Oil & Gas, Motorsport, Pharmaceutical and Renewable industries. They have over 120 years of experience and provide industry leading services to their portfolio of long-standing customers.

Key responsibilities

  • To operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as turning, milling, and drilling.
  • To understand specifications of the task and the desired result by reading mechanical drawings.
  • To prepare and load/unload raw materials and parts into the machines.
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
  • Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
  • Carry out any other duties required and within the skill set.

What you need for the role.

  • Previous experience and skills of working in a CNC Operator role.
  • Knowledge of CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools.
  • The ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
  • Mechanical aptitude and good maths skills.
  • A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including, standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Previous experience of working in a machine shop environment.
