Junior Estimator - Construction
Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum + performance bonus scheme
Location: Whitstable, Kent
Job Overview:
Our client is a family run Aluminium Window, Door and Curtain wall Fabricator. With a focus on commercial projects in both new-build and refurbishment.
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for analysing project specifications, conducting cost analysis, and preparing accurate estimates for construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work well as part of a team. Product specific training will be given.
Duties:
- Review project specifications and blueprints to understand project requirements
- Conduct cost analysis by gathering and analysing data on labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
- Prepare accurate estimates for construction projects, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate estimation of project costs
- Identify potential risks and opportunities for cost savings during the estimation process
- Maintain documentation of all estimates and related information
- Monitor project progress and update estimates as necessary
Experience and Qualifications:
- 1 year experience in Estimating/Quantity Surveying
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and analyse data effectively
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate estimation of project costs
- Proficiency in cost control techniques to identify potential risks and opportunities for cost savings
- Knowledge of construction industry practices, materials, and methods
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project specifications
- Strong communication skills
- Beneficial if you have experience using estimating software and tools
