As an Early Family Help Practice Manager within the Children & Families Department, you will support the Service Manager with operational delivery and turning strategy in to reality. Performance, Human Resource and Health and Safety within associated service areas will require continuous effort. You will lead and manage one or two of the neighbourhood Early Family Help Teams, this is subject to locality size and demographics.

Working within a multi-agency framework and within the key principles of Progress with Unity. The appointed person will lead and manage Early Family Help by:

  • Supporting and developing the delivery of whole age family help in line with Wigan's early help framework.
  • Coaching, managing, supervising and supporting a team of family help workers to engage children and families through an asset-based approach which results in sustainable change in line with the Strengthening Families Practice model.
  • Have operational oversight and provide quality casework supervision and quality assurance to ensure practice is of the highest quality and compliant with the service practice standards.
  • Support awareness and understanding of mental health and mental well being for children, young people and families in the neighbourhood to avoid stigma.
  • Contribute to reducing health inequalities of families and children by working in partnership supporting, empowering and removing barriers to good health
  • Development and delivery of Continuous Professional Development for the workforce.
  • Have involvement in a thematic area and to deputise in the Service Manager's You will beliaising with all branches of CYPS, the wider Local Authority, other agencies, organisations and groups involved in delivering early help support.
