Reeson Education is seeking a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the area of Wigan. This full-time, long-term Teaching Assistant role is to begin as soon as possible and offers an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact supporting a pupil on a 1:1 basis.

The school is looking for a nurturing Teaching Assistant who can build strong, supportive relationships with children and contribute positively to the wider school community.

About the Teaching Assistant Role:

  • The Teaching Assistant will provide 1:1 support to a pupil in Year 3.
  • The pupil has a diagnosis of ASD, MLD, and some social and emotional needs.
  • The Teaching Assistant will focus on emotional regulation, classroom engagement, and supporting learning tasks.
  • The Teaching Assistant will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCO to deliver tailored strategies.
  • This Teaching Assistant role requires patience, creativity, and a flexible, child-led approach.

The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will:

  • Have experience working with pupils with SEND, particularly ASD or MLD.
  • Be a Teaching Assistant who is resilient, empathetic, and proactive.
  • Be confident supporting emotional and behavioural needs in a classroom setting.
  • Be a Teaching Assistant who can remain calm, consistent, and encouraging.
  • Be a team player who communicates effectively with staff and families.

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply).
  • Two professional references covering the last two years.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Previous experience in a Teaching Assistant role, ideally with SEND experience.
