The Role:

So, what will you be doing as a Senior Wiring/Assembly Technician?

  • Utilizing technical drawings, wiring/circuit diagrams, and operational instructions for the assembly of intricate systems.
  • Installing terminals and soldering high-density multi-pin connections and surface mount devices.
  • Assembling control cabinets, racks, frames, and associated metalwork.
  • Crafting cable looms and conducting printed circuit board assembly and repair.
  • Executing repairs, modifications, and upgrades in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conducting thorough checks on wired assemblies and ensuring accurate completion of all paperwork and electronic documentation for traceability.
  • Upholding high standards of cleanliness and safety, including adherence to ESD precautions.
  • Constructing one-off builds based on limited design/engineering instructions, including prototyping.
  • Providing mentorship to team members to enhance technical and practical skills.
  • Leading product development efforts within the Production team for new products/systems.
  • Offering detailed feedback on assembly timelines, schedules, and any encountered issues to Line Manager and other relevant departments.

What are we looking for in our next Senior Wiring/Assembly Technician?

  • Educational background or hands-on experience in electrical assembly.
  • Substantial prior assembly experience in a workshop manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient soldering abilities, especially with intricate high-density connectors and surface mount devices; certification in IPC-A-610/620 is desirable.
  • Attentive and precise in assembly tasks.
  • Capable of comprehending and interpreting electrical drawings, including wiring diagrams and PCB schematics.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to work independently to meet established deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team player.
  • Fundamental computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
