Sheridan Maine is excited to collaborate exclusively with our based on the Ferndown Industrial Estate in their search for an Assistant Accountant who is eager and ambitious to join their finance team.  In this role you will report directly to the Financial Controller and play a crucial part in various financial activities, including assisting in the preparation of management accounts, enhancing day-to-day transactional processes, and contributing to procedural enhancements.Working closely with the Financial Controller, your key areas of responsibility will include:
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Processing of VAT returns
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset register
  • Assisting with cash forecast preparation
  • Monthly payroll
  • Provide support during year end
  • Processing and reconciliation of Credit Card, and cash expense claims
  • Supplier statement reconciliations and processing purchase ledger invoices
  • Dealing with suppliers to resolve queries on purchase invoices
  • Payment runs
  • Balance sheet and Bank reconciliations
  • Accruals and prepayments
  • Proposing and implementing improvements to financial processes and procedures
To succeed in this role you should have the following skills and qualifications:
  • Previous experience working in a similar broad accounts role
  • Highly motivated and driven to succeed with a passion for accounting
  • Ideally AAT Level 3 or equivalent is desirable
  • Strong IT knowledge and experience including Excel
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
