Description:
- Performs sensory, physical, and chemical tests on finished products to assure they meet established specifications
- Evaluates Bill of Material (BOM) for completeness and proper documentation.
- Records test data and maintains laboratory work list in LIMS system to assure timely release of finished products.
- Reports nonconformance with immediate corrective actions in LIMS system.
- Performs required inspection for manufacturing equipment, storage equipment, and sanitation cleaning.
- Participates in check sample program with outside institution(s) and in internal proficiency program to verify accuracy.
- Follows proper GMPs and GLPs.
- Uses proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary.
- Assists with Raw Material testing, COA review, and COA filing as needed.
- Inspect Finished Product Packaging to ensure label and configurations are correct
- Approve and apply final wrap with automated equipment
- Other duties as assigned
- Candidate will be required to perform wet chemistry product testing, equipment inspections and perform audits.
- 70% of the day performing testing in the laboratory (salt, viscosity, bicarb test, displacement test, moisture, surface color, UV-Vis, HPLC, antioxidant testing, Fat CEM Rapid Analyzer, Micro testing - Kjeldahl, test protein)
- 30% on the floor (manufacturing/shipping) doing inspections, procedural audits, making sure following GMPs, and checking labels before the product goes out.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science/Chemistry or Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience (minimum of 6 months) in a Laboratory or food company or Associates degree with 2 years’ experience in a food processing company with exposure to quality assurance/control/testing
- Able to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to communicate with individuals and small groups.
- Ability to read, write, understand and speak English Language
