Position Summary: The Sr. Manager of Total Rewards is responsible for implementing and delivering corporate strategy around payroll, benefits, compensation, and wellness programs that allow the organization to offer competitive, quality, total rewards to attract and retain top talent. This position also provides key oversight and day to day administration of the payroll, benefits, compensation, and wellness areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Leadership and tactical accountability for the company's total rewards program including payroll, compensation, benefits, and wellness initiatives.
  • Conduct strategic planning and project execution regarding updates on existing benefit and payroll plan administration including new technology functionality to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the function.
  • Prepare and process full-cycle, weekly, multi-state, and multi-country payroll while maintaining payroll compliance at all regulatory levels.
  • Work closely with functional departments and finance regarding proper calculation and reconciliation of incentive payments including commissions, overtime, bonuses, etc.
  • Develop year-round communication and education programs including feedback mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of the total rewards program, including leading the annual open enrollment process, and year-round training efforts targeted at wellness and total rewards education.
  • Ensure full compliance across all plans with applicable federal, state, and local regulations concerning employer-sponsored benefits. 
  • Responsible for all benefit program documentation; ensuring notices are updated and distributed promptly. 
  • Manage the 401(k) non-discrimination and compliance testing, form 5500s, plan audits, and all plan-related compliance and filings.
  • Partner with the CHRO and company HR leaders to establish the annual benefit strategy and plan designs, ensuring programs are competitive, cost-effective, and will attract and retain talent. 
  • Manage all income withholding orders by responding to requests promptly and mailing mandatory notices to employees. 
  • Manage process and register for state and local payroll tax jurisdictions based on company growth.
  • Responsible for preparation of W-2, government forms, and year-end reporting. 
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding benefit inquiries and identify resolutions as needed. 
  • Analyze and present data regarding costs and associated efforts to reduce risk and overall cost increases. 
  • Coordinate with the third-party administrator to manage claims and COBRA enrollment. 
  • Manage the development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs and the associated annual salary planning process.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommend cost-effective changes consistent with compensation trends and the organization’s objectives.
  • Develop techniques for compiling, preparing, and presenting compensation data.
  • Oversee the participation in salary surveys and monitor the data to ensure the organization's compensation objectives are achieved.
  • Responsible for compensation ranges and recommend changes.
  • Conduct annual benchmarking of compensation ranges and recommend changes.
  • Ensure job titles reflect correct market codes and work with HR Business Partners to ensure all employees are mapped accurately in HR systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Experience and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 
  • 8+ years of experience administering multi-state payroll and managing benefits processes.
  • 5+ years of experience in a related management role.
  • Advanced knowledge of benefit and employment laws (ERISA, Section 125, FMLA, HIPAA, etc.)
  • Experience leading open enrollment efforts at an enterprise level specifically for a self-insured organization.
  • Experience designing and leading large enterprise-level compensation programs.
  • Experience with 401(k) plan administration.
  • Ability to juggle various work activities and shift their attention from one task to another to meet the demands of different stakeholders without “dropping the ball.”
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy, team-oriented environment and have a “roll up your sleeves” and “win every day” mentality.
  • Hold oneself accountable and responsible while being self-driven in accomplishing goals.
  • Detail-oriented and can focus on the task at hand by finding the most efficient and effective pathway to completion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels to communicate with internal and external stakeholders articulately.
  • Ability to logically connect ideas, scrutinize and evaluate arguments, find inconsistencies and errors in work, solve complex problems, and engage in reflection.
  • Ability to provide timely and empathetic service through all communication channels keeping peer and customer needs first.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and/or Access).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status). 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Certifications:

  • Professional certifications such as FPC, CCP, PHR, SHRM-CP. 

Travel Requirements:

  • No travel required. 

Overtime/Additional Hours Requirements:

  • Additional hours may be required (exempt positions).  

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office environment. 
  • Performs indoor work in a climate-controlled environment. 
  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
