Lab Technician

Within the Sample Preparation Department, the Sample Preparation Technician 2 will work with client samples (primarily minerals and mining materials) to prepare them for laboratory analysis.

Job Duties

• Drying, crushing, splitting, pulverizing, sieving (including International Soils)

• Loading and unloading drying ovens

• Maintaining production logs

• General cleaning duties for maintaining basic lab cleanliness

• Inspecting equipment and informing senior staff if adjustment is required

• Ensuring analytical quality

• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all health and safety policies and procedures

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Good hand-eye coordination

• Good organizational skills

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team

• Basic alpha/numeric comprehension

• Basic English communication skills (written and verbal)

Required Qualifications

• Prior work experience in a commercial minerals laboratory or minerals sample preparation highly preferred

• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time

• Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment

• Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs; (occasionally lifting may exceed 50lbs and assistance is mandatory from either another employee or the lift assist equipment)

• Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities

• Will be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the majority of the shift including steel toe shoes/boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, and respirator

Schedules/Shifts

All employees will train on a Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM schedule

After training, the schedules will be Monday - Friday:

Day Shift - 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Evening Shift - 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM

Pay

Day Shift - $18.39/hr

Evening Shift - $20.39/hr
