Role: Mechanical AssemblerLocation: BirminghamSector: Packaging and Process SolutionsSalary: Competitive Salary DOEOwen Daniels Consultancy has engaged with a key client and an established Packaging company providing a wide range of services to the food industry, and high-profile clients. Due to team & project growth an opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Assembler to join on a permanent basis.This role will report to the Assembly Team Leader and will be required to cover the assembly of the client’s equipment according to customer needs, following engineering drawings and other written and verbal specifications given by the Team Leader. You will be responsible for completing all mechanical operations in line with all health and safety measures to a high level of accuracy.Mechanical Assembler Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble products, as specified by work orders, diagrams, and templates, using hand tools, power tools and metal work machinery.
  • Closely follow engineering drawings to ensure fit to drawing.
  • Fabricate mechanical componentry using tooling such as a guillotine, lathe, or pillar drill.
  • Liaise with Engineering in order to ensure best possible fit and build process.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 4 years mechanical assembly experience would be preferred.
  • Install moving parts, such as shafts, levers, or bearings.
  • Remove metal burrs, using hand files or portable grinders.
  • Mount and connect auxiliary, mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, or hydraulic equipment.
  • May be required to bend and install pipe work for hydraulic systems.
  • May be required to help assist in the testing operation of completed products.
