Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant

Location: CARDIFF

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Are you an experienced and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity in CARDIFF? Our dynamic and inclusive school is seeking a dedicated individual with at least 1 year of experience in a UK primary school to join our SEN team. If you have a passion for supporting children with additional needs and creating an inclusive learning environment, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, including those with learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, and behavioural difficulties.
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored learning activities to meet the individual needs of SEN students.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies under the guidance of the SENCO and teaching staff.
  • Foster a nurturing and supportive environment where all students feel valued and included.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure the holistic development and well-being of SEN students.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a UK primary school setting, preferably with experience supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, CACHE Level 3 Award in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities).
  • Knowledge of different learning needs and disabilities, as well as strategies for differentiation and inclusion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of children with SEN.
