Our client is a leading supplier and manufacturer for the Life Science and clinical diagnostic markets. They are now seeking an experienced Manager to join the manufacturing and production unit, based at their headquarters in Oxfordshire.

The role:

The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting in the company’s successful culture and purification of raw materials, within the antibody manufacturing unit. While this is still a laboratory-based role, the position is at management level and you will be expected to utilise prior management experience to achieve the following responsibilities:

  • Direct line management of 5 technicians to achieve company goals.
  • Effective scheduling of workload and contingency planning.
  • Provide guidance on process improvements and compliance needs.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO9001 for product release.
  • Support with training protocols and maintenance within the laboratory.

The requirements:

Suitable applicants will have prior experience managing a small team, ideally with direct reports. Technical experience and background should include:

  • Strong knowledge of culture or protein manufacture, gained through industry experience.
  • Experience with antibody manufacture and cell culture.
  • Thorough knowledge of quality systems - ISO 9001, GMP or similar.
  • Technical background in cell culture with bioreactor experience.
  • Experience leading projects and training teams to deliver company goals.
  • Able to troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on processes.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent industry experience in a Life Science discipline.
