This role is for a meticulous Finance Manager who will lead the Accounting & Finance department in a public sector organisation based in Leeds. The successful candidate must be capable of overseeing all financial operations and implementing effective financial strategies.

Description

  • Provide financial management and analytical services.
  • Support senior finance managers and the Assistant Director in delivering financial management for service agreements and research programmes.
  • Produce accurate financial reports and monitor the financial impact of awards.
  • Analyse and resolve financial queries, liaising with stakeholders.
  • Lead year-on-year trend analysis and produce timely monthly financial reports.
  • Assist in setting up new award contracts and support long-term financial planning.
  • Conduct due diligence, audits, and risk assessments for global health research contracts.
  • Ensure integrity of finance systems and implement financial policies.
  • Communicate finance review outcomes and maintain strong working relationships with higher education institutions and health organisations.
  • Contribute to ministerial briefings and government department reports.

Profile

A successful Finance Manager should have:

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a similar role within the public sector
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting processes
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • High proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
